Stepping beyond disciplinary hostility, she analyses a wide range of key texts spanning from early 20th century to the present. In close readings, the book crosses expertly between American, German, and British versions of art history, cultural studies, aesthetics, film studies, along with the political agendas that motivate them in feminism, gender and queer theory, as well as identity politics more generally.
